Residential P-trap
P-trap is designed to create a seal using water collected in the bottom of a trap to prevent sewer gases from escaping the plumbing system as they are toxic. There is a p-trap on every plumbing fixture that has a drain there are different types of p traps depending on the application and size required to properly drain a fixture.
Commerical P-Trap
A commercial p-trap is designed to do the same task as a residential p-trap in most situations but specifically to commercial a floor drain has a p-trap installed and it has a line that feeds the drain periodically with water to ensure that the p-trap is full of water it is called a primed p-trap it can be installed where a drain line from a handwashing sink feeds the p-trap it’s waste which is most commonly used there are different methods also where freshwater feeds the p-trap when the commode is flushed.
